John is a Texas licensed attorney with experience handling business, employment, and injury disputes in federal, state, and arbitration forums. He has successfully represented clients of all sizes, including corporate defendants, in jury and bench trials in some of the most challenging venues in Texas. John has had the opportunity to advocate for clients in nearly every corner of Texas. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in employment litigation, injury claims, commercial disputes, ownership and shareholder litigation, complex contract and fiduciary duty disputes, non-compete and non-solicit litigation, and insurance litigation. That broad experience has been invaluable in enabling John to “see the forest for the trees” while handling matters, which helps him anticipate the next challenges and strategize accordingly.

Prior to joining Doyle & Seelbach PLLC, John practiced law with a prominent Austin litigation boutique for eight years John after beginning his career at a South Texas litigation firm with an active trial docket.

Before attending law school, John served in the United States Marine Corps for six years and was deployed to Iraq in 2007–2008. His experience as an infantry Marine during Operation Iraqi Freedom shaped his perspective in a fundamental manner and has been a strong asset to him as a courtroom advocate and a counselor to his clients. After leaving the Marine Corps he obtained his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University using the GI Bill and worked as a Congressional Intern on Capitol Hill before obtaining his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. During law school, John was a member of the Texas Tech Law Review and the school’s traveling moot court and mock trial teams, which competed at the national level.

Representative Experience

  • Representation of employers throughout Texas in cases involving allegations of employee discrimination, harassment, retaliation, injury, and other claims arising out of the employee–employer relationship.

  • Representation of insurance company in FLSA overtime compensation and independent contractor classification cases, including individual and collective actions.

  • Representation of insurance carriers in first-party coverage and bad faith disputes involving homeowners and automobile policies.

  • Representation of companies in workplace injury cases involving non-subscribers to Texas workers’ compensation.

  • Representation of companies, employees, and executives stemming from disputes over non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements, as well as allegations of breach of fiduciary duty and misappropriation of trade secrets.

Extended Bio

John is a seventh generation Texan and a native Austinite. Outside the office John can be found spending time with his wife and two spirited young children as well as his extended family that is spread throughout central Texas. When the opportunity presents itself, he enjoys hunting, fishing, or exploring all that the great outdoors offer in Texas and beyond, often with his children in tow. He also likes to play handyman and short-order cook around his home on the weekends.
