Representative Experience

  • Representation of insurance carriers in first-party coverage and bad faith disputes involving homeowners and automobile policies in both federal and state court, including obtaining summary judgments.

  • Representation of Texas governmental agencies in personal injury lawsuits, including premises liability, medical malpractice, and automobile collisions, having many cases dismissed on jurisdictional grounds.

  • Representation of employers in lawsuits involving workers’ compensation, retaliation, and wrongful termination, successfully securing dispositive relief.

  • Representation of companies in lawsuits involving personal injury, including general liability and employee injury claims filed against employers who do not subscribe to the Texas workers’ compensation scheme.

Extended Bio

Jake grew up in a small town in the Piney Woods of East Texas called Shelbyville. After graduating from high school, Jake received his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. While attending A&M, he was involved in the school’s student government association and its freshman orientation program, Fish Camp. Jake tries his best to not become too emotionally invested in Aggie Football, as it has been the cause of many heartbreaks, but, in truth, he is a die-hard Aggie. After graduating from A&M, he received his law degree at Baylor University. At Baylor, Jake received extensive training in litigation. He was a member of the school’s Moot Court team and completed Practice Court, Baylor’s rigorous trial advocacy course.

Jake and his wife, Abby, now proudly call Austin home. In his spare time, he enjoys paddle boarding on Town Lake, attempting to play golf, learning how to play the guitar, and stressfully watching the Aggies play.
